How it works
How permission works
I built the app to post listings, not to decide who gets to post them. That part is on you, and here is exactly how it works, in the order I'd walk you through it myself.
Your own brokerage comes first
Before you post anything, confirm your own brokerage allows this kind of marketing outside its own channels. Every brokerage sets its own rules. Some allow it broadly, some restrict it, some don't allow it at all. Their rules are their own, and checking is the first step, not a formality.
Another brokerage's listing needs their yes
If the home is held by a different brokerage, you need explicit permission from that listing's agent or its managing broker. Not an assumption, not a guess about industry norms, a yes from the brokerage that holds the listing.
Blanket or per listing, it's their choice
A brokerage can grant permission one address at a time, or they can grant a blanket yes across their whole active inventory. Both are normal. Both are entirely the brokerage's call, not yours and not the app's.
The exact ask
When you reach out for permission, ask for three things, every time:
- The address of the listing, or "all active inventory" if they're granting a blanket yes.
- The timeframe the permission covers, for example "through December 31, 2028."
- Any other stipulations they want attached to it.
Get the yes in writing, and keep it. It's the thing you'd need to produce if anyone ever asked.
A sample permission request
Hi [name], I'm [your name] at [your brokerage]. I'd like to market [address, or "your active listings"] on Facebook Marketplace under my name, with your brokerage credited as the listing brokerage on every post.
Could you let me know if that's something you'll allow, and if so, for what timeframe and under what conditions?
Happy to answer any questions about how the posts are attributed.
Nothing in that message promises anything on your behalf. It just asks the three questions above, plainly.
What the app writes on every post
Once you have permission, the app builds the post. Every post carries the same three lines:
Marketed by [your name]
Listing courtesy of [the brokerage that holds the listing]
Marketing on behalf of [that brokerage] with permission. Not the listing brokerage.
Those lines say who's posting, whose listing it is, and that it's posted on that brokerage's behalf. The app writes them. You bring the permission that makes posting them true.
Whose responsibility this is
Permission is your responsibility, always, not the product's. The app doesn't request permission for you, doesn't decide whether you have it, and doesn't make a post compliant on its own. It writes the attribution once you tell it the listing is yours to market.
